Two Summer Layouts | Guest Designer - Katarina
Hi crafty friends!
How has been your summer? It’s slowly but surely coming to an end,
however, I have prepared two summer layouts from the Beautiful Life
collection.
First Layout
On the
first layout I documented my two boys chillin and having some ice cream.
Since the moment I saw
the Beautiful Life collection for the first time I loved the combination of the "Oh My Lemon" and "Splash" papers. Maybe that’s because blue and yellow is my top color
combo of all times. I used the lemon paper as my background and continued
layering with the blue one and finally a white textured cardstock. To add a
little something, I rounded the corners of the white paper.
Before
I adhered it, I enjoyed some fun with watercolors. I used different shades of
blue & aqua and the packaging technique, followed by some blue and gold
splatters, to create a fresh looking background for my photos.
Once this
was dry I went a little crazy with layering. I wanted a lot of dimension. To
back my photos I used some scraps from previous projects as well as the pretty
wooden effect card from the card paper "Summer Memories" that went perfectly with the wooden
furniture on the photo. I adhered some of the pieces flat and some of them with
extra foam to pop it up from the page.
The
embellishments are also fussy cut from the card paper. I have also used the
Just Perfect stamp set to add a couple of hexagons stamped in blue.
For the
title I applied two shades of yellow ink on a white cardstock to create my own
paper. I used it to stamp my title with the Alpha Typed stamp set. Then I cut
out every letter of my title separately in a rectangle and glued it next to the photos also
adding adhesive foam to make it stand out.
Second Layout
This is
another layout from our summer days, with my son having fun in the pool.
For this
layout I decided to use a cut file to be able to use more patterned papers from
the collection.
I took the "Swimming
Pool" paper which is by the way side B of "Oh My Lemon", used for my first
layout. It nicely corresponded with the tiles on the photo and it was also
subtle enough for me to add some mixed media and the cut file.
I
started with coating the paper with clear gesso to be able to blend the colors nicely.
I again used different shades of blue, aqua and turquoise, this time
accompanied by yellow to make the cut file and the photo stand out. I backed
the cut file with various papers from the collection. To have the patterns in
the perfect smaller size I either used the cards from the 12x12 paper or the TN
papers.
For
one of the letters I used the little paper ship stamp from the Let’s Go stamp
set and by repeated stamping created my own pattern on a piece of vellum.
Now it was
time to embellish. I didn’t want too many embellishments because the cut file
was already pretty busy. I created a little tag out of the wooden paper and
stamped “beat the heat” from the Just Perfect stamp set.
Then I
fussy cut some of the cute pictures from the "Have Fun" paper. I could also find
use for the collection and paper names from the branding strip
and the cute clear stamp with flip flops . I just added journaling with black
pen, a few black splatters and the layout was done.
That’s all
from me today. I wish you many beautiful sunny days ahead and a lot of time for
crafting. That’s exactly what I would appreciate too!
With best regards,
