Hi! How are you?
These last few weeks I've been at home more than
usual, I guess like most of you,
I'm working on journals I've had for a
long time, half or not at all, from my trips last year.
The
truth is that I appreciate it because this way for a moment I fill
myself
with good memories and good vibes that help me to take this
situation a little better.
A few weeks ago I was showing you this
journal that I made with the beautiful collection
So romantic and it
was time to fill it with photos and memories of those days in Porto.
The
print of these papers seems so beautiful to me that I haven't reloaded
many pages.
A couple of stickers and stamps with a nice message to give
life to these photos and that's it!
Many times less is more. I hope you are well, a big hug.
Since I have the So romantic collection, I can't stop looking at it.
I think it's such a beautiful collection that I had to do a travel journal with it, yes or yes.
In
the video you can see the step by step. I haven't indicated the
measures, because I don't think it's something very important, you can
do it with the measures you like.
What is important is the size of the
rope for this type of binding, I needed 50 cm for each hole and even so
it was very tight, for the 10 inside pages and cover and back cover.

I had this file cabinet at work that I didn't use
and I wanted to bring it back to life. It was a pretty ugly color, a
very dull green and in many parts it was broken, maybe this file drawer
is older than me hahaha.
That's why the first thing I decided to
do was to paint it with acrylic paint I had at home in a beige color
that goes great with the Gaia collection.
For the front, I used a
piece of fabric and several papers from this collection torn and
overlapped on top of each other to create contrast. I decided to
decorate it with those pretty little legs that I cut out of a tag from
this collection and I put a chipboard with the word wonderful, because I
plan to fill this drawer with tags and pretty things. Finally I added a
vintage handle that looks great on it.
I decided to make several
dividers to be able to separate the things I'm saving by theme or
colors, for example. I decorated each divider with stickers, chipboards
and Gaia stamps.
I hope you liked it, and that it inspired you to recycle things you have at home and give them a new but much nicer life.
A few days ago I learned how to make bindings with
macrame, a technique that I love and I did not want to miss the
opportunity to show it in this wonderful blog.
I have made it
small but you can do it in the sizes you like, and the same goes for the
binding, I have decided to do it only with 4 strings but you can add as
many as you want.
As you can see I have used the Gaia
collection, one of my favourites for the interior, and for the sheets I
have used some basic cream coloured ones.
To make the binding, I
have used 4 strings of about 80cm. The first step is to fold them in
half and pass the central part through the holes of one of the covers,
then you have to make the knot that is made in the tags, that easy. In
the video you can see it much better.
Once all these knots are
done, the best thing is to secure them so that they stay well fastened. I
have closed it with the festoon knot.
Here I am again, and this time I have made a bigger project than the previous ones.
Some
of the papers in the Lunare collection transmit me a lot of peace and
remind me of my childhood, that's why I decided to make a children's
album.
As you can see in the photos, I've decided to make a
Coptic binding, the truth is that I'm not very expert in this kind of
sewing, but it's all a matter of practice and practice.
I love the papers I've chosen for the cover and back cover, they're super nice and tender.
For the inner pages, I used basic white and beige cardboards, to give much more prominence to the papers of the collection.
In
some of these pages I have added a pocket to give it even more capacity
and in many of the pages I have added a tag attached with washi tape to
give the option to add some notes about the photo that is going to be
put in that page.
To decorate and give life to the album, I have
decorated most of the pages with stamps, which are absolutely beautiful.
I have also used stickers with children's motifs and stickers with
feelings, all from the Lunare collection.
